Your First Token Purchase
Complete step-by-step guide from absolute zero to making your first trade on Mauá. Explained in clear English, without technical jargon.

Install a Solana Wallet
First, you need a digital wallet to store your SOL and tokens
Visit phantom.app or solflare.com in your browser
Click 'Download' and choose the extension for Chrome/Brave/Firefox
Install the extension and the icon will appear in the top corner of your browser
Click the icon and select 'Create New Wallet'
Secure Your Wallet
Write down your seed phrase in a safe place - it's your only way to recover access
The wallet will show 12 or 24 words in English - this is your 'master key'
Write these words down on paper, in the correct order, and store them in a safe physical location
Type the words again to confirm you wrote them down correctly
Create a strong password for daily use (only on the current device)
Buy SOL
You need SOL (Solana's currency) to buy tokens and pay fees
Option 1: Buy SOL directly in Phantom (accepts card and PIX via MoonPay)
Option 2: Buy from a Brazilian exchange (Mercado Bitcoin, Binance, etc)
If you bought from an exchange, copy your Solana address from Phantom and send SOL there
Start with $50-100 to test (equivalent to ~0.5-1 SOL depending on price)
Connect to Mauá
Now it's time to connect your wallet to Mauá and start exploring
Visit maua.fun in the browser where you installed Phantom
Click 'Connect Wallet' in the top right corner
Phantom will open automatically asking for permission - click 'Connect'
Done! Your address will appear in the header (like: 7kKN...bpLD4)
Choose a Token
Browse available tokens and choose one for your first purchase
On the homepage, you'll see 'Trending Now' tokens (most traded)
Scroll down to see 'All Tokens' or use the search
Click on a token that interests you to see details
Check: description, price chart, market cap, volume, community comments
Make Your First Purchase
Time to buy! Start slow to get the hang of it
On the token page, you'll see the 'Buy/Sell' panel on the right side
Choose how much SOL you want to spend (start with 0.1 - 0.5 SOL to test)
The system automatically shows how many tokens you'll receive
Click 'Buy [SYMBOL]' and confirm in Phantom when it appears
Track and Sell
Now you're a holder! You can hold or sell whenever you think it's best
Your tokens are saved in your wallet (check in Phantom under 'Tokens')
Come back to Mauá to see the real-time price and chart
To sell: switch to the 'Sell' tab, choose how much you want to sell, and confirm
After selling, SOL returns to your wallet immediately
Done! You're now a trader 🎉

Common Issues & Solutions
If something went wrong, the solution is probably here
Phantom won't connect to Mauá
Solution:
Reload the page and try again. If it doesn't work, open Phantom manually, go to Settings > Connected Sites and remove Mauá, then reconnect.
Transaction failed
Solution:
It could be lack of SOL to pay network fees, or the price changed too quickly. Try increasing slippage (tolerance) to 2-3% or wait a few seconds and try again.
I can't buy SOL with a Brazilian card
Solution:
Some cards block crypto purchases. Try using PIX in Phantom (via MoonPay) or buy from a Brazilian exchange like Mercado Bitcoin and transfer to your wallet.
I bought but tokens don't appear
Solution:
Open Phantom, go to 'Tokens' and scroll down. Sometimes the token is 'hidden' - click the 3 dots and select 'Show'. If it doesn't appear, confirm the transaction was approved (check Solana Explorer).
I lost my seed phrase
Solution:
Unfortunately, if you lost the phrase AND don't have access to the device where you created the wallet anymore, there's no way to recover it. That's why it's SO important to store it safely. Create a new wallet and start over carefully.
The price changed between clicking and confirming
Solution:
That's slippage! The price changes in real-time as other people buy/sell. You can increase slippage tolerance in settings, but be careful: the higher it is, the more the price can vary.
